#19: Red, White and Blue

Time flies when you are having fun (painting, that is)! The original plan was to paint and post this piece last Wednesday, 7/4 but I was having too much fun with the stripes and trying out different ways to bring out the 3D look and feel of fabric on a flat hardboard. I discovered a neat trick for fabrics - mix colors on your palette and put down the individual strokes as you normally would - NO blending on the board. Then take a clean brush with a little bit of medium and go over the sections where the dark and light shades of the same color meet. Again no blending, just clean bold strokes.
