#40: Hot n Cold

The majority of figurative and portrait ala prima paintings by American artists are of Caucasians. I do love that when trying to research Caucasian skin tones and colors. However I am on my own when trying to paint Blacks, Hispanics, Asians or South Asians. For the longest time I steered clear of painting any of these races in color.

Karin Jurick changed my boundaries as a portrait artist by introducing me to a delicious palette of skin tones with her BUSTED series. She has stretched my imagination of skin color beyond white, black, yellow, brown and beige. Now I'm always on the look out for portrait and figurative painting subjects. Wanna volunteer?
